DIMPLES AND TANGLES CHRISTMAS TOUR {2013}

If you're coming from Lindsay's at Makely School for Girls, Welcome! I get lost when I visit her blog, there are so many great projects and she loves color as much as I do!  I'm so glad you're here.  I'm extremely grateful to Lindsay from The White Buffalo Styling Company for setting this huge Christmas Blog Hop up, it's been quite the task!  Oh yeah, and did you happen to catch her at YOUNG HOUSE LOVE yesterday?  So happy to see her beautiful home featured there!

This year I focused my Christmas decor around black, white, green, and metallics, which is no surprise if you've been around.  But, for as long as I can remember, I've used the traditional red plaid in my Christmas decor, so this year I switched it up a little and cut out most of the red.  I couldn't totally leave it by the wayside, though, so I contained my few pops of red to the front porch and kitchen, which I'm happy to share with you today!

I'll leave you alone to enjoy the photos...

Brrrr!  It's cold out there!  Ready to come inside?

Take a left and make your way into my cozy kitchen!

For my friends that are with me almost every day...surprise!  Did you notice something new?  On a whim and in about 30 minutes I did a super fun polka dot wall in the kitchen last weekend.  It's not permanent, I'm planning to leave it up just for Christmas, but it just might stay longer because I LOVE IT!  It's black card stock cut with a 2" circle cutter and installed with double sided tape.

Don't mind the extra spots of light around the pom pom garland, that's just the reflections from my disco ball!

The lanterns were a Habitat Restore purchase that I painted and we did some re-wiring in the kitchen to install them.

I recently read a magazine article where the homeowner said she doesn't decorate with any bows at Christmas.  I can't imagine!  Almost everything gets a bow at my house!

I added chalkboard paint to this little nook about a year ago, and it's given a lot of personality to our kitchen.

For our advent calendar, we made ornaments that have the names of God on them.  The kids take turns choosing one every day to hang on this little advent tree in the kitchen.

My husband picked up this thorny vine from the creek behind our house and wove it into a crown.  We keep it out every year at Christmas as a reminder that really, the whole point of Christmas is the Cross.  I thought it was appropriate to include it with our advent ornaments this year.

We have a little breakfast nook in the kitchen that I kept very simple...maybe just right for breakfast on Christmas Morning, which is Monkey Bread and fruit smoothies at our house.

Thanks for coming over...if I could I'd send you home with of few of those chocolate chip butterscotch cookies!  Here's today's full schedule if you missed any of the other stops:

Jenna - SAS Interiors
Chris - Just a Girl
Michelle - Iron and Twine
Amanda - Our Humble Abode
Julia - Cuckoo 4 Design
Lindsay - Makely Home

  2. Love it all Jennifer! Those polka dots are such a fun new addition! My mom has that same wooden thing with the candles. She's had it since we were kids and it was always so fun to pull it out every year and watch it spin, we were mesmerized by it. She still has it and now the grandkids love it, it's become a fun little tradition!
