MY DINING ROOM

Well first off, let me thank you for all of your kind comments here, on Facebook, and Instagram yesterday!  Between the new blog design and the Good Housekeeping feature, you all sure know how to pile on the compliments!  Thank you, thank you very much.

Today, I'm so happy to show you my finally finished Dining Room!  Many of you have been with me through all of the work on this room.  I just checked, and my first post about this re-do was in March of 2012, but I had sold all of our DR furniture a good 6 months before that.  Whew!  I took my time, waited for bargains on the pieces I wanted, and almost everything here was a DIY project.  So, I don't have a lot to say today, I'll just show you the result!

I just refinished the table that I bought from my parents before they would have painted it and sold it in their booth.  It is old and the legs were already somewhat chippy, but I helped them along a little more with the sander.  I completely refinished the top using a mix of Ebony and Jacobean stain with a matte finish poly on top. The size is perfect with the new leaf in place and I will keep it in all the time.  I love everything about this table, especially the chunky legs and the scalloped curvy cross braces at the bottom.  I like to prop my feet up on those!

I found a few awesome brass pots at an Estate Sale last weekend.  After some Brasso and lots of elbow grease, this one is a favorite!

And, just for fun, here's where I started about 2 years ago (pre-blog!)...

Pretty big change, if I do say so myself!

Here are some of the links to the projects for this room:

And here are a few sources for things that weren't second hand:

Quatrefoil Mirrors- Better Homes and Gardens from Wal-Mart (painted gold)
Frames- Michaels

  24. I love your dining room. Green is my favorite color. I have a few touches of this color around my house, but not as bold as your china cabinet. You have inspired me to go for it. I have a side table that would love this color. Thanks!
