NEW PAINT PHOTOS AND THREE BIRTHDAY WINNERS!

First of all, thanks for all of your sweet comments on my three years of blogging!  So glad that you are all along for the journey.  Congratulations to the winners of the drawing for the giftcards, Janelle T., Jacqueline, and Tara H.!  Check your inbox ladies, you should have an e-mail from me!

Today I wanted to quickly share with you our finished paint job.  Quickly, meaning these photos aren't perfectly set up and styled...I just took some quick snapshots so you could see the difference.

Breakfast Nook Before:

Breakfast Nook After:

We knew this would be a huge project, because with our floor plan, once you start, there's nowhere to stop.  And, we had to do the ceiling too.

Dining Room Before:

 And After!

With all of the color that I use in decorating, it's refreshing to have a calm backdrop on the walls.  I wondered if the light color would feel stark, but it doesn't at all.  In fact, I probably could have even gone a little lighter.

The color we landed on is Benjamin Moore Manchester Tan at 25% intensity (mixed at Sherwin Williams).  Don't let the color chip throw you off, the color looks nothing like it.  I tried LOTS of samples, and this one worked best with the lighting in our home.  It's warm without being too yellow, and still has just enough color to contrast with the super bright white trim.

The new home for the antlers...

The hall is one of my favorite changes- so much lighter now!
Hallway Before:

Hallway After!

Here's the domino effect of change - now the kitchen cabinets look TERRIBLE and need to be painted pronto!  What looked warm and creamy with the old color looks totally yellow now.  Actually, I've been ready to repaint them for a while now, but the job just moved way up on the priority list.  Now to figure out when to get it done!  When I chose the subway tile backsplash, I knew the cabinets would eventually get repainted, and I can't wait to see it all together with a different color!

One last shot, I had to show off one of my birthday gifts.  My sister and brother in law made this "G" marquee letter for me.  I love it!  I'm still playing around with how to arrange it and hide the cord, but it's so fun!

Hope you all have a fantastic Thursday, see you tomorrow for the Best of the Nest Features!

  3. Your new paint color looks fantastic! I agree with Beth that it makes the space look larger.

When we bought our new house it was already painted and the color is darker than I would choose. My husband was all good with it until last weekend when we went to a model home that was light and bright. Now he wants to paint..only I'm the painter. :)
