A SPECIAL DAY

Yesterday was a very special day in the life of our family.  Backing up a bit, in January our daughter Emily began to feel Jesus speaking to her heart and came to a point where she asked Him to be her Lord and Savior.  So, yesterday we were able to celebrate that decision with our church family as she was baptized to show everyone that Jesus lives in her heart.

A little last minute instruction from Dad before the doors opened...

Big brother was all set with the video...

One of my husband's regular duties is to baptize others at our church, but this one was extra special.  What a blessing for him to have the privilege of sharing this experience with her.

Our church family is so gracious and was so kind to share in our excitement.  As we did when Caleb was baptized, we had our family over for lunch, and also invited some special people in Emily's life from the church.  Her current Sunday School teachers and some of our Children's Ministry staff joined us for the party.  They along with countless other teachers and leaders have played such a role in Emily's spiritual development so far, and we're thankful for each and every one of them.

We had almost 25 guests so there were 3 tables set up for adults and the kids partied at their own table.  I was a little distracted and forgot to take some table pics, but here's a little peek.  I'm planning to play around with a table setting in the next few days so I'll have some good photos later in the week.

My sister prepared a simple table for the kids...so cute with her special touches!  There were some pretty good works of art on that paper by the time lunch was over.

The occasion also merited a new design on the chalkboard wall.

Last week Ray & Caleb went to a huge Christian concert downtown called Winter Jam, and Caleb came home crazy about this new song from Matthew West.  I thought the title was fitting for this day when we celebrated Emily's decision.

The side panel was open for guests to write a special note for Em-

We had such a memorable day...a great way to cap off the week before that was busy in preparation for the big event!

I'll see you tomorrow to show you my new favorite little corner...there's a bit of a sneak peek in this family photo from yesterday.

Enjoy your Monday!

  5. That is so awesome! I am tearing up just reading it. a few years ago, my son was Baptized, and that day was one of the proudest days in my life. I told him there is nothing he could ever do to make me more proud of him than I was in that very moment. Congratulations.

  7. I was so happy reading your posts and I teared up seeing the picture of Emily and her dad. How special that he was the one to baptize her. It was probably really hard for him to keep it together! I was saved when I was 4 and re-confirmed that decision in the 5th grade (when you go to Baptist private school and church all the time and hear about salvation there's some doubt you did it wrong!) I brought my change of clothes but forgot a new training bra and so my options were to either wear the wet one or go without, so I wore the wet one and it showed thru my dry clothes..ugh I still cringe to this day..but I never forget my baptism day! I am so happy for your family! My 2 children are 3 and almost 1 (next month!!) and I have been praying for their salvation since I first found out about them! I am so happy for you and your family!
